Maltipoo Care
Maltipoo temperment

Maltipoo are a wonderful cross between a Poodle and a Maltese.  They are notoriously good with kids.  They are calm for a small breed.  All of our Maltipoos are well socialized and and are raised with kids and other dogs.  This is very important to the mental health of the puppy.  Many breeders isolate their Maltipoo puppies until they are of age to go to the new owner.  This results in more barking and strange behavior such as when the doorbell rings or they here a noise they are unfamiliar with.  Our Maltipoo puppies are handled form the beginning by adults.  Starting at around 5 weeks we let the kids play with them.  As they pass 6 weeks, we start to let them run around outside their playpen.  Two at a time of course. Bottom line is that Maltipoos are a great hypoallergenic family pet.

Maltipoo grooming and coat

Taking care of a Maltipoo is not too difficult in relation to many breeds.  Maltipoos have a nice soft wavy coat.  Maltipoos generally do not have to be groomed very often.  Grooming your Maltipoo can range in price from $25-$150 depending on where you live.  Some Maltipoos may not have to be groomed at all.  Maltipoo coats range form curly to wavy and come in a variety of colors.

Maltipoo vaccinations

All of our Maltipoos are vaccinated at 6, 8, and 12 weeks of age with Galaxy's (Distemper, Parvo, Parainfluenza, and Adenovirus Type II).   Rabies shot's are usually given at 12 weeks of age as recommended by our vet.  Some vets may give an additional puppy shot after 12 weeks.

Maltipoo Food

All of our Maltipoos eat Purina Brand puppy food.  We've tried many of the major brand food and always come back to Purina.  We prefer the puppy chow without the multi-colored chunks.  Why Puppy Chow you ask?  The most important thing to know about little puppies is that it is crucial that they eat on a regular basis.  Missing a meal prior to 12 weeks of age can mean death.  We want a food that a puppy doesn't just nibble on.  There are many good puppy foods out there for Maltipoos.  If you switch your Maltipoo's food, make sure to mix the old and new foods 50/50 for a few days.  If you don't mix the food, the puppy can get bad diahrea.  We don't recommend wet food unless it's for a treat occasionally or in the event that your Maltipoo puppy is not eating.  In that case, mix a small amount of wet with the dry.
